A little neighbor

I found a turtle (or tortoise?) as I walked the rest of the my running path this morning! This little fella was about the size of my palm. Black brown shell with yellow sun bursts of golden silhouette of a peacock in each compartment. It started crawling quite fast out of the blue and went over into someone’s yard. I loved noticing the way it would swim on land a little bit, stop and stretch it neck up to see, and go back to swimming in the grass. I wonder where it was headed.
